What are you fighting for?

"Girl Fight represents the challenges we face daily and the drive we have inside all of us to want to succeed… I call this our inner “Girl Fight's”!"

- Kathy James

It’s true that we battle to be successful, to accomplish a goal, to speak and think positive, to be heard and to be seen. To overcome illness, trauma, and grief. This is one of the reasons I naturally chose Girl Fight when it came time to select a name for this organization.

I also decided Girl Fight for the name and as my brand because at one point in my past I used to literally fist fight. This destructive habit started in my last year of middle school, after being bullied and picked on by peers, but I didn’t stop at just fighting bullies. In fact, I eventually became the very thing I was fighting against, and my fighting years would extend past high school into my early twenties.

My fight went deeper than just the surface, I was fighting against myself, and self-sabotaging left me lacking trust, feeling insecure, and extremely unhappy. I was a bundle of rage, and I didn’t care who was hurt in my path. In those years, I was so engulfed by anger and felt so out of control that I would scream to the top of my lungs at my husband, my young children, and even complete strangers over seemingly simple matters.

I say all of this because, despite the raging anger, the fighting, and feelings I once hid deep inside, I was able to find healing from the trauma that was taunting me and in doing so I found a happier future, breaking destructive cycles over not only my life, but my children’s lives.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have a feisty side! My Hun likes to call this my “KCJ” side, but that scared angry young woman that lived in a soup of negativity for years, is now a strong, confident, caring, and supportive woman who now chooses to be a cheerleader rather than a bully. A woman who desires so much for you to know that you are loved, valued, important and that you too can find healing and happiness despite your past or current circumstances!

My bulldog attitude didn’t go away… I just repurposed it and I am a much happier momma as a result, and so can you!

Now, who’s ready to get their Girl Fight on?!
